Mirrors of the Self

Who are you? Who am I?

Who among ourselves has never asked these questions? Yeah yeah...please don't start that philosophical/psychological crap on me. I know it; these question are a big part of our development process and yada yada yada. (leave all hope here in understanding yada yada, he who has never seen Seinfeld).

The following situations from the real life made me wonder upon the questions above:

Fact of life #1:
Person A hears that Person B has studied Psychology. Without any warning, person A drops on Person B the request for a medical examination. Person B realizes that Person A is confusing psychology with psychiatry and explains Person A that Psychology has nothing to do with medical examination, medications and so on, further more, Person B is not accredited in doing physical exams. Person A says "It doesn't matter. I'll even pay you to give me a medical examination. When can I come to your office?"

Fact of life #2:
Person 1's expectations towards Person 2's abilities include: mind reading, hypnosis and a wide range of psychological tricks. Person 1 thinks that if Person 2 has a certain educational background then Person 2 is trained in all the mention above and Person 2 is not sharing/teaching all these because is a selfish human. It doesn't matter how often Person 2 is being open in regards to his skills, Person 1 is offended.

Fact of life #3:
Friend A has a emotional turmoil. Friend A summons Friend B to discuss the issues. Friend B is required to offer comfort, emotional support. It doesn't matter that Friend B has other issues on his mind at this moment, he has to give the required support , otherwise friendship is over.

Fact of life #4:
Individual 1 is having a new job. Individual 1 is in a brand new office with brand new colleagues. Individual 1 thinks of himself as a sociable, reliable person; others have confirmed his opinion and now he's really puzzled when for 2 weeks the brand new colleagues are reacting to his presence with silence and social rejection. It doesn't matter how Individual 1 really is, the group is perceiving him as someone unapproachable and the boss's pet.

Every fact of life presented have more things in common, but let's draw the line and add:

It doesn't matter who you are. I will always perceive you the way I want, the way I need. In fact, I don't even care how you really are. All I am interested in is Me, my needs and how you can help me obtain and fulfill my goals. I am not interested in you, if I need you to comfort me now, you must comfort me, if I need a medical exam from you, you must give it to me.

Considering all these, the question "Who are you?" has a simple answer "Mirrors of myself."

Beside the obvious down-side of this (that we are blind to great opportunities of expanding our flow of conscience), the major jeopardy I can detect is: We are trapped in a role-play, a show directed by the Mighty SELF, a show in which we think we are masters, but in fact we are the mice; a show of reflections in the mirrors, a game of hide and seek with the self, a place in which we loose the sense of love and we replace it with attachment, where we forget that everything is ONE and we believe that Separatism is the answer. We end up believing in soap bubbles and mirror reflections.

Who am I? I am a self playing hide and seek with myself.

I would rather ask, who are we?

We are love and laughter.

"You know someone said that the world's a stage And each must play a part." I say that we are just spectators to a film where LIFE is the Main Character. But what do I know ? Maybe there is a honorable reason for each of us...
